Vodacom chairman appointed new CEO of Old Mutual Emerging Markets


Old Mutual has announced  the appointment of Peter Moyo as CEO of Old Mutual Emerging Markets (OMEM).

Moyo will step down from his position as non-executive chairman of Vodacom Group, taking up his new position on 1 June  2017.

“Peter has deep financial services experience, having been CEO of Alexander Forbes from 2005 to 2008 and prior to that deputy managing director of Old Mutual South Africa from 2000 to 2005, having joined as divisional manager in 1997,” Old Mutual said in a statement on Monday (3 April).

Moyo will take over from interim CEO, Iain Williamson.

Vodacom said in a separate statement that Moyo “will retire and step down from the board at the forthcoming annual general meeting to be held on Tuesday 18 July 2017”.

Moyo joined Vodacom at listing in May 2009. “The board is in the process of identifying a new independent chairman and a further announcement will be made in due course,” the mobile operator said.
